Many people think the PUI Law is "for hotels". It isn’t. Article 12 Bis of the LGMDFP applies to EVERY lodging establishment in Mexico, and that includes short rentals: Airbnb, apartments by the night, vacation homes and temporary rentals. If you charge to host someone, you’re required to register their identity and connect to the Single Identity Platform.
The Article 43 Bis fine (roughly $1.17 to $2.35 million pesos per infraction) doesn’t distinguish between a hotel chain and a host with one or two apartments. The good news: PUIhoteles makes you compliant without needing a counter, an IT team or any technical know-how.
