Everything about the PUI Law and PUIhoteles
We answer the most common questions hotel owners have about compliance.
Is the PUI Law mandatory for my hotel?
Yes. The obligation to register your guests’ identity is already federal law (General Law on Enforced Disappearance, Art. 12 Bis) and applies to EVERY lodging establishment, regardless of size, category or whether you are an individual or a company.
Does it apply to my small hotel or Airbnb?
Yes. The law does not distinguish by size or business model: hotels, inns, motels, hostels, B&Bs, glamping and Airbnb-style short rentals are all equally required.
What exact data is requested?
CURP, full name, date of birth and ID document (INE, passport or migratory form). No card data, spending or preferences are requested.
What about foreign guests with no CURP?
They are registered with a passport or migratory form (FMM) plus their nationality. The law expressly allows it and PUIhoteles already supports it.
How much is the fine for not complying?
From 10,000 to 20,000 UMA per infraction: roughly $1.17 to $2.35 million pesos (Art. 43 Bis).
Do I need a technical team or developers?
No. PUIhoteles handles the technical part: the certified connection, encryption and answering queries. We also guide you with LlaveMX and e.firma. You keep running your hotel.
How much does PUIhoteles cost?
One-time setup of $4,350 MXN + $930 MXN per month (plus VAT), connected to R2 in real time and with no lock-in. If you want to run your whole hotel in one system, PUI is included in R2 OS — ask us about the bundle.
I already have a PMS, does it work?
Yes. PUIhoteles can capture and connect your registry even if you use another system. And if you switch to R2 OS, PUI is already included.
Does PUI see all my guests’ data?
No. It is a targeted query about people reported missing — not mass monitoring of your guest base.
Is this related to the SAT or taxes?
No. PUI is about security and finding people, not taxes. The SAT is a separate matter.
What is LlaveMX?
It is the official government digital identity (free) to do procedures on its platforms. It is the access key to the portal where your hotel registers. We help you create it.
When do I have to be connected?
The obligation to capture identity is already in force. Full federal interconnection opens when the government publishes the last operating manual; that is why the best move is to start capturing today and be ready to connect.
Get your hotel compliant with the PUI Law.
The fine runs from $1.17M to $2.35M pesos per infraction. PUIhoteles connects you, captures identity and answers for you — from $930 MXN a month.
